Stand with the Street Vendors of Bangalore!
Despite progressive legislation which supports the rights of street vendors to ply their trade on the streets of Bangalore, the 'Safe Footpath Campaign' has been forcefully evicting vendors and destroying their property without any warning, nor taking any of the requisite steps required before taking such drastic steps.
How can you help?
Post on social media addressing the benefits of having street vendors as part of our urban ecosystem: they are "eyes on the street" that make our streets safer and more vibrant and creates community and social cohesion
Speak to your friends and family about positive encounters and experiences you have had with street vendors, and that we need to address infrastructural apathy before we destroy people's livelihoods
Join them in their protest on Wednesday the 8th of July at Freedom Park
